Meet Brian

Brian Little

Pro- Coach

FRCS, FHEA, B.Sc.(Hons), IAM Roadsmart Masters - Distinction, RoSPA Gold, RoSPA Tutor (level 3 AMIT), DVSA Certified Instructor (CBT & DAS), DVSA Enhanced Rider Scheme post-test Trainer, RAPID Roadmaster, California Superbike School level 4

Before becoming involved in motorcycle coaching, Brian’s professional career was as a Consultant Eye Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital. For most of that career, he worked as an educator and mentor to surgeons at all levels of training, from novice to consultant and was elected as Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in recognition of his achievements in that field.

He has ridden motorbikes for over 50 years and enjoys doing so now more than ever, as he sees it as a continuing process of skills development accompanied by progressive improvements in motorcycle technology.

After retiring from medicine, he turned his energy and enthusiasm towards training as a motorcycle instructor under the auspices of BMW Rider Training UK, where he gained his certification with the DVSA to train riders for CBT and the basic DAS Driving License with an 85% first-time pass rate.

Enthused by the experience, he rapidly moved on to qualify as a post-test riding coach with RoSPA and a registered trainer with the DVSA’s Enhanced Rider Scheme.

Brian has a keen and enduring interest in the psychology of learning, which includes universal principles that are applicable to the acquisition of any skill. The satisfaction of successfully applying these principles and customising them to inspire and advance the riding skills of individual students continues to provide him with a source of immense satisfaction.

He regularly undergoes mentoring by other advanced riding coaches, as Brian believes that retaining the humility to be receptive to further development is central to the process of lifelong learning and continuing improvement.
